Patient Advocate Scholarships for the 2013 ASCO Annual Meeting are made possible by the Conquer Cancer Foundation, through generous grants from Millennium: The Takeda Oncology Company, Susan G. Komen for the Cure® – Breast Cancer Patient Advocates, and Teva Oncology.
The Conquer Cancer Foundation Patient Advocate Scholarship Program provides scholarships for patient advocates to attend Symposia sponsored or co-sponsored by ASCO and the ASCO Annual Meeting to further educate themselves on important advances in their areas of interest. The scholarships help cover travel, hotel, and registration expenses and are based primarily on financial need. Scholarship funds are limited and are granted on a first come, first served basis.
ASCO-sponsored Symposia and the ASCO Annual Meeting give patient advocacy organizations an opportunity to promote their programs, services, and resources to the professional oncology community. These meetings also offer a venue where advocates can meet, interact, and exchange information. Advocates are encouraged to return to their organizations and their communities to share what they have learned and participate in various consumer advocacy opportunities, lending a crucial perspective and making a difference in the lives of people affected by cancer.
