More research highlights from ASCO’s 2014 Annual Meeting with expert-led podcasts!

Dr. Susan Chang, Director of Neuro-Oncology at University of California San Francisco, discusses the latest research highlights on brain and central nervous system tumors. She shares about how “there have been some impressive clinical results in solid tumors such as melanoma and renal cell tumor. And how these approaches can be applied to the treatment of brain tumors is of significant interest.”

In the next podcast, Dr. Melissa Hudson from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, shares about the innovative research in childhood cancers. These studies ”represent the spectrum of research initiatives presented at [the meeting], all of which aim to improve the duration and quality of survival of children and adolescents diagnosed with cancer.”

Clinical trials are so important for advancing patient care. Dr. Chang mentioned that one study specifically pointed to “the importance of the cooperation of multiple institutions as well as our patients in being willing to participate in these trials.” This is how progress in cancer care happens!
