Oncologist-approved cancer information from the American Society of Clinical Oncology

Kaleidoscope on Ice: Skating, Song, and Survivorship

Kaleidoscope Logo

For the third year, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) is participating in Kaleidoscope, and Cancer.Net will once again be the official clinical cancer information resource of the event. Kaleidoscope is a holiday entertainment variety special that raises awareness of cancer survivorship through collaboration with several advocacy partners.

By pairing awareness and education with the talent and beauty of champion ice skaters and musical performers, Kaleidoscope will celebrate cancer survivorship and inspire both those dealing with cancer and those who want to do more to fight it. Kaleidoscope pays tribute to the millions of Americans who are surviving this disease, while serving as a vehicle to educate people about cancer and the unique challenges that face survivors.

Kaleidoscope will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday, November 18, 2011, at the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina. It will be hosted by Olympic Gold Medalists and cancer survivors Scott Hamilton and Dorothy Hamill, and performers include Olympic silver medalist Nancy Kerrigan, three-time U.S. national champion Johnny Weir, Olympic silver medalist Sasha Cohen, four-time world champion Kurt Browning, Olympic silver medalist Paul Wylie, and Olympic bronze medalist Joannie Rochette. There will also be special musical performances by American Idol winner Jordin Sparks and Grammy Award winner Patti LaBelle. Tickets are free and can be ordered through Ticketmaster (service charges will apply).

You can also catch Kaleidoscope televised on FOX on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2011, at 4:00 PM EST *(Updated broadcast time) following the NFL game. Last year’s Kaleidoscope on FOX was one of the network’s highest rated post-NFL broadcasts in the last five years, reaching an audience of over 2.5 million.
