Researchers are evaluating new treatments for mesothelioma, including several promising new drugs, gene therapy, and immunotherapy. Research projects at various universities are underway to identify genes that become mutated that may cause mesothelioma and to find blood markers (a substance found in higher than normal amounts in the blood of someone with cancer) that could help detect early-stage mesothelioma.
