Oncologist-approved cancer information from the American Society of Clinical Oncology

Advanced Cancer Care Planning

Advanced Cancer Care Planning Booklet CoverAdvanced cancer is cancer that cannot be cured. It may be referred to as end-stage or terminal cancer. However, incurable does not mean untreatable. People with advanced cancer continue to have options for treatment and can maintain a good quality of life.

The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) is working with oncologists (doctors who treat people with cancer) and their care teams to help patients and their families talk about advanced cancer and identify the best, individualized treatment plan for each patient. This booklet is designed to help people with advanced cancer and their family and caregivers understand the diagnosis and treatment options, discuss these options for care throughout the course of the illness, and find support.

Download this booklet as a printable PDF in English (24 pages) or en Español (28 pages). Order printed copies of the booklet in the Bookstore.
