Patient Advocate Programs at ASCO Symposia

This section contains details on valuable educational meetings offered or co-sponsored by ASCO. These events are designed to provide educational opportunities for patient advocates involved in research advocacy.

For ASCO Symposia, discounted registration is available for patient advocates who meet specific criteria. Exhibit space is also available to patient advocacy organizations at a reduced rate. For more information about registration and exhibits, e-mail patientadvocates@asco.org [1]. These opportunities are available for the following upcoming meetings:

The Breast Cancer Symposium [2]: September 13-15, 2012, at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis, in San Francisco, California. For more information, visit breastcasym.org [3].

The Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium [4]: January 24-26, 2013, in San Francisco, California. For more information, visit gicasymposium.org [5].

The Genitourinary Cancers Symposium [6]: February 14-16, 2013, in Orlando, Florida. For more information, visit gucasymposium.org [7].

Scholarships

Scholarships for patient advocates to attend ASCO Symposia are oftentimes available through The Conquer Cancer Foundation [8]. When funds are available, they help expenses related to travel, hotel, and registration. Scholarships are granted first come, first served, and based on financial need as well as advocacy experience. Learn more information on Cancer.Net's section on The Conquer Cancer Foundation Patient Advocate Scholarship Program [9].
