Mastocytosis - About Clinical Trials

ON THIS PAGE: You will learn more about clinical trials, which are the main way that new medical approaches are tested to see how well they work. Use the menu to see other pages.

What are clinical trials?

Doctors and scientists are always looking for better ways to care for patients with mastocytosis. To make scientific advances, doctors create research studies involving volunteers, called clinical trials. In fact, every drug that is now approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was tested in clinical trials.

Mastocytosis - Follow-Up Care

ON THIS PAGE: You will read about your medical care after treatment is completed, and why this follow-up care is important. Use the menu to see other pages.

Mastocytosis - Coping with Treatment

ON THIS PAGE: You will learn more about coping with the physical, emotional, social, and financial effects of mastocytosis and its treatment. This page includes several links outside of this guide to other sections of this website. Use the menu to see other pages.

Every disease treatment can cause side effects or changes to your body and how you feel. For many reasons, people don’t experience the same side effects even when they are given the same treatment. This can make it hard to predict how you will feel during treatment.

Mastocytosis - Stages

ON THIS PAGE: You will learn that because mastocytosis is not a type of cancer there is no standard staging system. Use the menu to see other pages.

Staging is a way of describing where a cancer is located, if or where it has spread, and whether it is affecting other parts of the body. Because mastocytosis is not a type of cancer, there is no standard staging system.
