Jennifer Juergens was forced to grow up fast. When she was in the 7th grade, her father experienced a debilitating heart attack. Only one year later, her mother was diagnosed with lung, cervical and breast cancer. Jennifer learned quickly to take care of both parents while still keeping up with school.
Many people would have lost hope in the face of the obstacles that she encountered, but Jennifer used art to keep faith and maintain hope. This piece, painted with acrylic when Jennifer was only 17, expresses the hope that she maintained in the face of cancer.
