Barbara McGilvray, Cancer Survivor, Breast Cancer
Village Garden in Provence
As illustrated in her oil painting Village Garden in Provence, featured on the four-month page of the 2010-2011 Expressions of Hope calendar, Barbara McGilvray's art is heavily influenced by her travels. “Throughout my life, I have developed a keen aesthetic sensibility,” said Barbara. “My vacations in the south of France in recent years have rekindled my long dormant passion for painting.”
As a survivor of breast cancer, Barbara's art serves as a way to express hope, capture life, and revisit memories. “Being a cancer survivor has made me realize how important it is to enjoy the beauty of each day and to live fully in the present moment. My painting enables me to capture the beauty of special places my family and I have visited.”
