Dr. Matthew B. Yurgelun is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and a gastrointestinal medical oncologist affiliated with both the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s Gastrointestinal Cancer Center and the Center for Cancer Genetics & Prevention.

Dr. Yurgelun earned his medical degree at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, completed a residency program in internal medicine and a fellowship in hematology and oncology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He is currently a clinical researcher whose focus and expertise is on the diagnosis and management of patients with inherited gastrointestinal cancer syndromes. He formerly served as the president of the Collaborative Group of the Americas on Inherited Gastrointestinal Cancer. He also serves on the Cancer Genetics Editorial Board for the National Cancer Institute’s Physician Data Query (PDQ) and as a panelist on the National Comprehensive Cancer Network’s Genetic/Familial High-Risk Assessment: Breast, Ovarian, and Pancreatic clinical practice guidelines panel as well as the Genetic/Familial High-Risk Assessment: Colorectal panel.
