Dr. Brian Shuch was recently recruited to UCLA Health as the Director of the Kidney Cancer Program and the Alvin & Carrie Meinhardt Endowed Chair in Kidney Cancer Research. Previously, Dr. Shuch was at Yale University where he was an Associate Professor of Urology and Diagnostic Radiology and Director of the Genitourinary Cancer Genetics and Prevention Program as well as the Genitourinary Biospecimen Repository. He completed his urology training at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) followed by a Urologic Oncology Fellowship at the National Cancer Institute. He is an accomplished surgeon (open/laparoscopic/robotic/and percutaneous) and clinical/translational researcher.

He serves in leadership positions within various kidney cancer research organizations, such as SWOG Cancer Research Network, the Society of Urology Oncology Clinical Trials Consortium, and the Kidney Cancer Association. He is recognized as an expert in the genetics of kidney cancer and runs a translational research program. He has over 130 peer reviewed publications including primary research published in prestigious journals, such as Nature Genetics, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and Clinical Cancer Research.
