Robert Maki, MD, from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, discusses research on sarcomas that have spread to other parts of the body. In addition, he covers a study on adjuvant therapy for gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). Adjuvant therapy is additional treatment given after the initial therapy.

Research Round Up – Childhood Cancer

Melissa Hudson, MD, Director of the Survivorship Division at St. Jude’s Research Hospital talks about two studies from the Childhood Cancer Survivor Study (CCSS), which is a large study involving more than 30,000 children. Dr. Hudson shares promising research showing that current treatment approaches have “led to a longer and healthier lifespan of survivors of childhood cancer.”
