In addition to a wide range of oncology professionals from around the world, ASCO’s meetings and symposia bring together other members of the cancer community, including patient advocates. In this podcast, Cancer.Net’s Editor in Chief, Robert Miller, MD, and Wendy Poage, MHA, discuss this year’s Genitourinary Cancers Symposium through the eyes of a patient advocate. In this podcast, they talk about some of the research presented at the meeting and offer advice for other advocates and patients who are looking to learn more about the latest in cancer care.

Wendy Poage is the President of the Prostate Conditions Education Council and the Director of the Men’s Health Alliance. She received a Conquer Cancer Foundation Patient Advocate Scholarship to attend the 2014 GU Cancers Symposium. This program allows patient advocates to further educate themselves on important advances in their areas of interest and share what they learned to make a difference in the lives of people affected by cancer.
