Dr. Daniel Bowers is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics’ Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at the University of Texas (UT) Southwestern Medical School - Dallas. He also is Medical Director of the Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Program at Children’s Medical Center, as well as Medical Director of the After the Cancer Experience program for childhood cancer survivors. 

After receiving his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University, Dr. Bowers earned his medical degree at UT Southwestern. He completed his residency in general pediatrics at UT Southwestern and performed his fellowship in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. 

Dr. Bowers is a full member of the Children’s Oncology Group and serves on the Central Nervous System Tumors Steering Committee, where his role is to develop new treatments for low-grade gliomas in children.

Dr. Bowers is an expert in understanding the long-term side effects seen among childhood brain tumor survivors, including secondary brain tumors, stroke, obesity, and cognitive (thought-processes) problems after brain tumor treatment.
