Resources for LGBTQ+ People with Cancer

The following organizations have free information and resources for LGBTQ+ people with cancer and LGBTQ+ caregivers. Contact these organizations directly to learn more about their specific programs and services, which are based in the United States unless otherwise noted. Because programs and services change frequently, this list may not include everything available. Find more organizations and support for people with cancer.

CancerCare LGBTQ+ Resources. CancerCare is staffed by oncology social workers that provide professional support services and resources, including for the LGBTQ+ community affected by cancer.

CoppaFeel!: Resources for Trans and Non-Binary People. This breast cancer organization in the United Kingdom offers resources for trans and non-binary people, includes information on changes during transition and signs of breast cancer.

Family Caregiver Alliance: LGBTQ+ Caring Community Online Support Group. The Family Caregiver Alliance provides services to caregivers of adults, including an email list-serv that connects LGBTQ+ caregivers. It also offers an online support group for LGBTQ+ caregivers in California.

GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBTQ+ Equality. GLMA is an association of LGBTQ+ and ally health professionals that offers a searchable database of trained health care providers.

Live Through This. Live Through This is a patient-led peer support provider for LGBTIQ+ people with any type of cancer in the United Kingdom. It also offers support services for partners and caregivers.

MaleCare. MaleCare offers online support groups, including for LGBTQ people with cancer and caregivers.

National Center for Transgender Equality. The National Center for Transgender Equality offers cancer-related resources, including information about health care rights and other health topics.

National Coalition for LGBTQ Health. The National Coalition for LGBTQ Health offers informational and educational services related to the health and wellbeing of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals.

National Institutes of Health: Sexual & Gender Minority Research Office (SGMRO). A part of the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), SGMRO coordinates sexual and gender minority-related research and activities.

National LGBT Cancer Network. The National LGBT Cancer Network offers cancer education and resources for LGBTQ+ people, including about cancer screening, health inequities, tobacco cessation, and information about specific cancers.

National LGBT Cancer Project. The National LGBT Cancer Project offers informational and educational resources, a clinical trial search, and support for caregivers, as well as an online support group community for peer-to-peer support.

SAGE: Advocacy & Services for LGBTQ+ Elders. SAGE provides education, research, support groups, and resources for LGBTQ+ elders and their caregivers, including events and a hotline.
