Dr. Richard T. Lee is a Clinical Professor in the Departments of Supportive Care Medicine and Medical Oncology at City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Lee serves as the Medical Director of the Integrative Medicine Program. He oversees the clinical, research, and educational programs related to integrative oncology and provides oncologic care with a focus on gastrointestinal cancers.

Dr. Lee attended George Washington University for a seven-year B.A/M.D. Combined Degree Program and then completed his internal medicine residency at Stanford, his fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Chicago, where he served as chief fellow, and lastly his palliative care fellowship at Northwestern University. Between residency and fellowship, Dr. Lee became a Fulbright Scholar to Taiwan and China. There he attended China Medical University in Taichung, Taiwan, to study Traditional Chinese Medicine with a focus on acupuncture. This time abroad helped to cultivate his interest in integrative oncology.

Prior to joining City of Hope, Dr. Lee served as the Director of Supportive and Integrative Oncology at the University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center (SCC), and as Director of the Case Center for Integrative Oncology at Case Wester Reserve. He also previously served as the Director for the Integrative Medicine Center at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. There he led the transformation of the clinical program into an evidence-based clinical service that resulted in over 50% growth and the establishment of an inpatient integrative consultation service – one of the first in the nation. He has been an active member of the Society for Integrative Oncology and currently serves as the Treasurer, as well as has served as conference co-chair for several years. His work has led to over 50 publications, including in peer reviewed cancer journals and book chapters. He has been an invited speaker to both national and international meetings on integrative oncology including most recently to the 1st Guangdong Scientific Congress of Chinese Medicine in Guangzhou China last year.
