Barium Enema

A barium enema is a type of x-ray that allows your doctor to see your colon and rectum. It is also called a colon x-ray or lower GI exam. Barium enemas can help diagnose changes to your large intestine, such as your colon and rectum.

Breast MRI

Breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an imaging test that uses magnetic fields and radio waves to create detailed, computer-generated images of your breast tissue.

Why is a breast MRI needed?

This test has many uses:

  • Screen for breast cancer in people who are at a high risk for the disease or have a personal history of breast cancer.

Ultrasound

An ultrasound is used to find a tumor by showing the tumor's exact location in the body. It can also help a doctor perform a biopsy. A biopsy removes a small amount of tissue for examination.

How does an ultrasound work?

An ultrasound is an imaging test. It is also called sonography or ultrasonography. It uses high-frequency sound waves to create pictures of internal organs. The sound waves are sent and bounce back when they reach the organs. A device called a transducer turns the sound waves into images.

Bone Scan

A bone scan is a test that can help doctors diagnose problems with your bones. It is a useful tool for finding cancer that has started in or spread to the bone. It can also help your doctor check how well treatment is working for cancer in the bone.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a test that can be used to find a tumor in the body and to help find out whether a tumor is cancerous. Doctors also use it to learn more about cancer after they find it, including:

  • The size and location of the tumor

  • To plan cancer treatments, such as surgery or radiation therapy

  • To see how well treatment is working

Mammogram

A mammogram is an X-ray that checks for cancer in breast tissue. The technique used to do these X-rays is called mammography. The images may show a small tumor that cannot be felt during an examination or other breast changes.

What are the different types of mammograms?

A mammogram can be done as a routine check-up test or to find the cause of symptoms you are experiencing.

Screening mammogram. This type of mammogram is a routine test. You may have it every year, every other year, or at different times depending on what your doctor recommends.
