Dan S. Gombos, MD, FACS, is Professor & Chief of the section Ophthalmology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He also serves as an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and a Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX.  Dr. Gombos is the Operations Director for Ophthalmology & the local residency director at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

After earning his medical degree at Stanford University, Dr. Gombos served as resident and co-chief resident in ophthalmology at the University of Pennsylvania-Scheie Eye Institute. He completed two fellowships in ocular oncology at the University of California San Francisco and Moorfields Eye Hospital & St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in London, UK.

Certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Gombos is active in many professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, International Society of Ocular Oncology, The American Association of Ocular Oncology and Pathology, ASCO, American College of Surgeons and Children’s Oncology Group. Dr. Gombos has authored several peer-reviewed research articles and was named America’s top Ophthalmologist in 2014.
