Desmoid Tumor - Stages

ON THIS PAGE: You will learn about how doctors describe a tumor’s growth or spread. This is called the stage. Use the menu to see other pages.

Staging is a way of describing where the cancer is located, if or where it has spread, and whether it is affecting other parts of the body.

There are no official staging systems for desmoid tumors. Instead, the health care team develops a treatment plan based on the individual's specific situation. This may include the size of the tumor, if the tumor is causing symptoms or complications, and other factors.

Craniopharyngioma - Childhood - Stages

ON THIS PAGE: You will learn that because of the nature of craniopharyngioma, doctors do not commonly use stage to describe this tumor. Use the menu to see other pages.

What is cancer staging?

In cancer, staging is typically how doctors describe the extent of disease in a person’s body. Craniopharyngiomas rarely, if ever, spread to other parts of the brain or elsewhere in the body far from where they started. Therefore, there is no standard staging system for this type of tumor.
